About
This is an open-world ecosystem simulation game demo, a personal project I developed to learn advanced game programming. Game features include procedural map generation, dynamic chunk loading and unloading, a day-night cycle with self-illuminating lighting, real-time minimap tracking, player state machine movement, an object pool for performance optimization, complex animal AI with Boids clustering behavior, predator hunting logic with line-of-sight detection, physics-based obstacle avoidance, UI menu navigation, and save/load functionality using JSON serialization. Furthermore, the entire ecosystem and procedural generation are driven by custom code.
GamePlay
The gameplay revolves around open-world exploration: traverse procedurally generated terrain, track your location using a minimap, witness the complex ecosystem interactions of predator hunts and herds gathering, observe the dynamic day-night cycle, and freely explore an endless, vibrant world.
